The GENERAL Job options menu is configured to create an optimized
PDF that is in Binary format. Newsday supports PDF versions 1.2, 1.3,
1.4 and 1.5. Any resolution setting will have little effect on the final PDF
file. Use 1270 as a safeguard when outputting to high-end image setters.
The IMAGES Job Options menu is configured not to downsample
Or subsample. Downsample any files in an image editing program or scan
Images at their target resolution. Newsday?s newsprint resolution is 200
Dpi. Compression is set to automatic and the quality is set to maximum.
These settings should ensure no degradation to your images. CCITT
Group 4 is a general all purpose compression scheme that produces good
compression in most bitmap or line art images. You will see virtually no degradation
with Compress Text and Line Art checked. It is a lossless compression scheme
(although, avoid hairline rules).
The FONTS Job Options menu is configured to embed all fonts in the PDF
(subsetting is unchecked). When embedding fonts fails, the job will be
cancelled. All fonts MUST be embedded.
The COLOR Job Options menu is configured leave all colors unchanged.
Create your original art and documents in the correct color space (CMYK).
Create any spot colors in CMYK. Preserve Overprint Settings is checked.
This ensures that any manually applied overprintsettings (in the originating application)
Will process correctly.
The ANVANCED Job Options menu is configured with some DSC boxes
Checked. This provides information about the parent application and is
useful when troubleshooting PDF?s. Please set the default page size to 9.38x12.75.
This represents Newsday?s ROP full page size. Setting page sizes in these field
boxes only affects EPS files. When distilling postscript files, this size will be ignored.
